Makeup as an art form

At the Alley of Fashion, MosFocus spoke with makeup artist Diana Yurasova about her profession and the creative process behind fashion-event beauty.

More than ten makeup artists worked as part of the team. Their task was not simply to create beautiful looks. They also had to emphasize each participant’s individuality.

“We are somewhat like artists — we simply paint on the face, create beauty and emphasize individuality.”

Professional makeup tips

According to Diana, makeup is a profession for creative people. At the same time, it requires precision and experience.

For example, she recommends doing eye makeup before applying foundation. This helps prevent falling eyeshadow from damaging the finished base.

There is also a simple blush technique. A slight smile helps reveal the natural cheek area and makes application easier.

Why highlighter requires precision

Highlighter can give the face a beautiful glow. However, runway shows and photo shoots require a different approach.

Cameras and flashes can turn excessive glow into unwanted highlights. Therefore, a makeup artist needs to consider lighting, photography and the location itself.

As a result, professional makeup becomes an important part of the overall fashion image.
