As part of the Fashion Wave 2026 festival, an interesting interview was held with designer Sergey Kalynev. Host Kirill Prepelitsa began the conversation with an unusual question about the perception of a fashion collection through taste sensations.
The designer shared original associations, comparing his collection to a sweet, slightly sour, and even “dark” note. When asked about the vegetable that could symbolize the collection, Kalynev chose potatoes, explaining that they have a high amount of white starch.
The main part of the conversation was dedicated to the concept of the new collection. Sergey said that the idea was born after watching the TV series “Chosen” in 2025. He was particularly inspired by the story of Mary Magdalene, a woman whose life, despite its brief mention in the Gospel, has become one of the most significant in Christian culture.
According to the designer, he wanted to share this story with as many people as possible, as Mary Magdalene’s journey resonates with the hearts of everyone. At the end of the interview, Kalynev praised his experience at the festival, giving it a perfect 10 out of 10.
