From opera to contemporary music
At Russia Music Fashion, MosFocus spoke with singer Alex Skizar about his musical journey and creative plans. Alex says he graduated from the Novosibirsk State Conservatory and initially trained as an opera singer. Over time, however, he wanted to explore new directions and develop his own sound.
Today, he works in club pop and New Wave. He also writes songs both for himself and for other performers.
Music as a process of constant growth
For Alex, musical knowledge and a willingness to learn are essential. He believes singers should understand musical notation. At the same time, songwriting does not always depend on waiting for inspiration. Sometimes, the process begins with a rhythm, a pulse and the first words.
“You need to hear a certain rhythm, feel the pulse, and write the lyrics.”
How AI is changing music production
Artificial intelligence was another key topic in the conversation. Alex Skizar teaches courses on AI in music and encourages his students to explore these tools. They can help musicians generate different versions of an idea, compare arrangements and test creative directions more quickly.
For Alex, technology is an opportunity to experiment and make the creative process more flexible.
Music and entrepreneurship
Alongside his music career, Alex runs his own beauty salon. He says his experience in conducting helps him manage processes and work effectively with people.
He is also preparing a project called “Forma” and invited people to take part on November 25. His story reflects how classical training, contemporary music and new technology can come together in a diverse creative career.
